My friend Sherri Amador had the idea of organizing a dinner/dance to help raise money for our family to use however we could to give Kortney the best quality of life possible. She called the private foundation Caring For Kortney. Sherri had many volunteers help her put together this wonderful dinner in under three months. Another good friend of mine, Theresa McLean, was her right hand person.
Over 350 supporters came out for that event. It was unbelievable that all of it was for us. Kortney was feeling well then and was able to attend. We bought her a beautiful pink dress that she wore for about 15 minutes before she wanted to change into comfortable clothes. She and Kasey stayed for about an hour and then slept over one of Kasey's friend's house.
The band, Chickaboom, donated their time and were a lot fun. Through the dinner, the ad book, the gift auction and raffle the outcome was phenomenal. We can never repay all of these people who Cared for Kortney and our family. The only thing we can do is try to help other families and children who are facing the same nightmare by helping raise funds for pediatric brain tumor research. The Kortney Rose Foundation grew out of the Caring For Kortney foundation.
The first dinner under The Kortney Rose Foundation banner will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at Gibb's Hall in Eatontown, NJ at 7:00 PM. We look forward to another spectacular evening. Please see the Upcoming Events section for more details on what is sure to be a fun event!!!
