Bob Yunker a fellow postal worker at Rich's office and a group of Rich's friends organized a fundraising effort through the minor league baseball team the Lakewood BlueClaws. Twenty people from the post office volunteered to work the concession stand at one of the games. In conjunction with that the group sold more than 250 tickets that they purchased at a reduced rate, but sold at face value. I had never been to one of these games before but I heard what a wonderful family event they are.
The weather was absolutely perfect and everyone really enjoyed the evening festivities.
The highlight of the evening was Kasey throwing out the first pitch.
Total raised for the event was over $1700 which also went toward the purchase of Kortney's Playground.
