NJ Marathon
May 2, 2010

Congratulations to the 34 runners who ran as part of TEAM KORTNEY in the NJ Marathon events on Sunday, May 2, 2010. With temperatures well over 90 degrees it was not a day anyone wanted to be running on. All participants should be proud that they ran on that oppressive day. The Kortney Rose Foundation thanks all of you for the great fundraising you did to support pediatric brain tumor research.
The NJ Marathon is timely for our organization since May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month in the State of New Jersey and nationally. Most people are not aware of this. Another underpublicized fact is that brain tumors are the #1 cancer-related cause of death in children 19 and under. The Kortney Rose Foundation works hard to increase awareness to these facts and to raise funding for life saving research. TEAM KORTNEY is a great way to increase awareness. We have a mix of members who actually knew Kortney, know us (the parents) or didn’t know any of us, but were inspired by Kortney’s story when they read it on our web site. Since runners can participate in the NJ Marathon without raising money, we are very grateful that members of TEAM KORTNEY choose to achieve a great personal goal and also benefit charity. Not only do we have the people running on the team as new supporters of our foundation, but also all of the people they contacted to help in their fundraising have been brought into the awareness fold, as well. Keep passing the knowledge on and Help Us, Help Doctors, Help Kids Get Brain Tumors Off Their Minds
